The House That Needs You: Adapting Historic Homes for Modern Life in Beacon

  • Beacon Historical Society 900 Wolcott Avenue Beacon, NY, 12508 United States (map)

Do you appreciate the architectural heritage of Beacon? Perhaps you are even lucky enough to own one of our venerable homes.  Either way, you won’t want to miss our April meeting, designed for anyone who cares about the future of our city’s rich housing stock and historic streetscapes during this current period of great change. We welcome Kate Wood, an award-winning preservationist and historic rehabilitation strategist for “The House That Needs You: Adapting Historic Homes for Modern Life in Beacon.” A real estate broker and author, Kate has a passion for preservation, rooted in a childhood spent exploring historic sites, an education in archaeology and years of grassroots work to protect New York's landmarks. She is a board member of the Preservation League of New York State; taught preservation planning, advocacy and law at Columbia University; and co-authored the book, Interior Landmarks: Treasures of New York. We will gather on April 28 at 7 p.m. at the Elks Club, 900 Wolcott Avenue. All are welcome.
