July Picnic, Historic Tour and Patriotic Photo

We've planned a very special Semiquincentennial celebration for July 28, when we will enjoy the grounds and tour the 1830 David Crawford House Museum in Newburgh, followed by a presentation by Newburgh City Historian Mary McTamaney and other representatives of the Historical Society of Newburgh Bay and the Hudson Highlands.

This is our annual picnic event. Our Newburgh friends have generously agreed to not only host us but also provide our beverages. So, you need only bring your own picnic dinner (and utensils); folding chairs will be available, but you are welcome to bring your own camp/stadium chair if you prefer.

In the event of inclement weather, we will take shelter on the porches or inside.   We will gather at 5:30 p.m.; eat around 6 p.m.; and have our speakers at 7 p.m. Please carpool, as parking is extremely limited on the surrounding streets.

General Washington, of course, spent more time in Newburgh than anywhere else during the American Revolution at his headquarters, which would become the first publicly owned state historic site in the nation (left). Come enjoy this evening learning about the history of our sister city -- and wear Red, White and/or Blue so that we can take a fun, patriotic group photo as we celebrate the nation’s 250th birthday and the 50th anniversary of our Society.  Huzzah!
