Once the hat-making capital of New York State, Beacon has reinvented itself as a center for the arts, cuisine, outdoor recreation and so much more. The city's rich history is key to its charm, and visitors are welcome to explore it all at the headquarters of the Beacon Historical Society. The all-volunteer society hosts monthly meetings on topics of local history and offers research assistance.
MISSION STATEMENT
The purpose of the Beacon Historical Society shall be to discover, procure, and preserve whatever may relate to the natural and cultural history of the district now included with Beacon and its antecedent communities and any area relating to them.
