Honoring the Memory of our Beacon Veterans

  • Beacon Elks Lodge 900 Wolcott Avenue Beacon, NY, 12508 United States (map)

October Meeting: Join us October 28 for “Honoring the Memory of our Beacon Veterans,” a presentation featuring various men and women from Beacon history who served with distinction in our nation’s Armed Forces. Men like William B. Wilson (left) the first Beacon soldier to die in the line of duty in World War I. Private Wilson was killed by shell fire on the night of August 19, 1918, near Dickebush Lake, Belgium, on a volunteer mission to retrieve the body of his best friend, Herb Miller of Newburgh. Wilson Post and Wilson Street in Beacon are named after him.

We gather at 7 p.m. at the Elks Club, whom we thank for hosting us. If you are unable to join us in person, we make every effort to stream our monthly meetings live via a Zoom link on the front page of our website at BeaconHistorical.org. Previous meetings can be found under the Past Events tab on that same website.
