Culture Sisters: The DeWints of Fishkill Landing

  • Beacon Historical Society 61 Leonard Street Beacon, NY, 12508 United States (map)

November Meeting: Join us at the Elks Club (900 Wolcott Avenue) November 25 at 7 p.m. for what promises to be an outstanding program! Researcher and Author Michael Green will present “Culture Sisters: The DeWints of Fishkill Landing,” an evening dedicated to the story of four remarkable women who led exceptional lives after being raised at the waterfront estate Cedar Grove (shown), the homestead of the DeWints, once located near today’s Bank Street and lost to fire in 1862.

Mr. Green, who recently retired from a 40-year career as an attorney and financial advisor, now devotes the bulk of his time to researching the Hudson Valley’s social and cultural history.  Much of this work stems from material that he gathered in the process of renovating Newburgh's 1868 Fullerton Mansion.

As always, if you are unable to join us in person, we make every effort to stream our monthly meetings live via a Zoom link on the bottom of the front page of our website below.  (Previous meetings can be found under the Past Events tab on that website.)  Our meetings also appear on Beacon Cable Channel 22 seven days a week, with the latest video appearing each night at 9:30 p.m. and the previous month each morning at 10:00 a.m.  All free for you to enjoy!
